Frequently Asked Questions...
How many servings does one recipe yield?
Our recipes make family-sized meals. We estimate that there are
4 – 6 servings per meal, but you can expect leftovers from
most of these dinners!
How do I cook these meals at home?
Each recipe will be labeled with the proper thawing (always thaw
in your refrigerator overnight) and cooking instructions. If you
have a question about the instructions, please feel free to ask
a Village Table associate, or call or email us.
How much freezer space will my meals take up?
Many of our meals will be packaged in freezer bags, which can
lay flat in any freezer. Our 9x13 baking dish meals need a little
more room, but if you're not buying as much meat at the grocery
store to put in your freezer, (because the meat's in the meal)
you should have the space in a standard freezer.
What do I need to bring to my session?
You should bring a cooler to transport your meals home. It’s
very important for the safety of your meals (and family) to keep
your meals very cold and place them in your freezer as soon as
you get home.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes (remember, you’re working
in a kitchen). We provide aprons and bandanas to help pull back
your hair, if needed.
What if I need to reschedule my session?
We purchase the ingredients for each recipe that you order especially
for you. We cannot return that food, but we understand that there
are busy schedules in our “family” and that unforeseen
emergencies do arise. Please reschedule your session a week or
more before your scheduled time, or in the case of an emergency,
that you reschedule within a week after your scheduled session.
Will my kids enjoy these meals?
We think that kids should be encouraged to try everything they
are served (especially if Mom made it!). These recipes have been
tested on the pickiest of eaters: families with kids of all ages.
And most recipes are very kid-friendly. You know your children
better than anyone, so if they don’t like green bell peppers,
leave them out of the recipe or ask us if we have a substitute
(I have used a dried ground green bell pepper, for example – it
has the flavor without being “that green stuff”).
Can I re-freeze my Village Table meals once they’re thawed?
No…unless you’ve cooked them. Re-freezing thawed out
frozen foods will affect the taste and safety of your meal. Once
they’re baked or heated, they can be frozen safely if properly
packaged and sealed.
Can I bring my kids?
We believe that having your children help out in the kitchen is a valuable lesson. However, expecting a small child to be by your side and help prepare meals for a minimum of one hour is not reasonable. If you do want to bring your child with you, they need to be at least 10 years old, and will need to stay with you at all times. And please, one child per adult. Because of health code restrictions, infants are not allowed in a commercial kitchen environment.
Am I able to bring a friend or family member to help make my meals?
It's fun to prepare meals with friends at Village Table - you get
to catch up on the latest scoop and make dinner for your family all
at the same time! Please feel free to bring a friend to help prepare
your meals - we love to meet new customers!
